California Open & IKO World Championship Registration





The California Open will be hosted by Orange Kettlebell Club via live streaming competition. This year's event also doubles as the IKO World Championship as it has in years past. Lifters from all over the world can still compete even without traveling! Prizes are available for winners!

The Set Up:

  1. To register choose your event in the 'Event 1' drop down list.
  2. Add the weight you are competing with (this can be changed up until a week before the event)
  3. Add if you want to be a judge (get a $50 gift card to Kettlebell Kings when you judge, no experience needed, we provide judge training). Then click 'Add to Cart'
  4. If you wish to compete in multiple events, add a new event in 'Additional Events' drop down AFTER choosing your main event and adding to cart, choose the weight you are competing with and click 'Add to Cart'. Repeat this process for each event you sign up for.

Lifters & Judges Need to Know Video

How The Competition Will Run:

Just like a live event, you will be assigned a lifting time in the week leading up to the event. You should be prepared to lift between 9AM - 4PM Pacific Time on February 20 or 21st and will be sent a link to open and sign in before you lifting time starts at your assigned time. We will be hosting live question and answer sessions leading up to the event to answer any questions you have about the event. On Friday, February 19th, you will be assigned a time to meet with event staff over a live stream link to do your weigh in and weigh your bells. The event will follow the IKO ranking tables (more in FAQ).

Will People Be Able to Watch?

Yes! We will be live streaming the entire event and people from all over the world will be able to tune in and watch competitive sets along with commentary from our team and the team at Orange Kettlebell Club. We plan to add interviews and post set interviews with lifters right after their set completes! We will publish the set schedule ahead of time if you want to tune in and watch different lifter sets from around the world! While lifter and judges will be one on one in breakout single rooms, we will enable people from around the world to watch a live stream with narration from our team!


We plan to produce a 30 minute to hour long segment about the entire event complete with winners, interviews and commentary. If you are competing and are interested in being interviewed, talking about your training, goals for the competition and more, we would love to speak with you! When you sign up, we will send you an email if you wish to be interviewed!

Why Are You Doing This?

The Rules of Competition:

If you have competed in a live event before by Orange Kettlebell Club, the rules are the same! You can click below to download a full list of rules for any event, read the FAQ section below and can email with any addition questions. You can use cast iron kettlebells or competition kettlebells for your set.


Gift cards to Kettlebell Kings will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division. Your division is determined by your weight class and the kettlebell weight you are competing with. First place winners receive gift card for $250 to Kettlebell Kings, second place will receive $150 gift card and third place in each division will receive $75 gift card Kettlebell Kings. Medals will be mailed to to all 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners and trophies for the top lifters, men and women, of the three main divisions (Open, Futures, Legends).

Overall Winners

An overall winner will be chosen from both male and female lifters for a $1,000 gift card to Kettlebell Kings! In order to qualify for the grand prize you must lift at the professional level which is 24 kilograms for women and 32 kilograms for men. Winners will be determined by the coefficient. Coefficient is calculated as total weight moved divided by bodyweight so 32kg(bell) x 100(reps) divided by 85kg(lifter) = 37.64.

How Are Sets Judged?

The 2021 California Open will be held via live streaming! The 10th anniversary of one of the best Kettlebell Sport events in the world will still be held the second to last weekend in February as it is every year. Register today to compete! Lifters will do their sets over a Zoom live stream with one judge assigned to them to judge their set.


Q. What bells can I use?

A. All Kettlebell Kings kettlebells are pre approved for us. We recommend you purchase those before the event as you are able to. We have free shipping in the United States, Europe and Australia. All other bells will need to be demonstrated and showed during the weigh in period in the week leading up to the event.

Q. How do I qualify for overall winner?

A. Males must compete in any event with 32 Kilograms and females must compete with 24 Kilogram kettlebells in any event. Winners will be determined by coefficient. Coefficient is calculated as total weight moved divided by bodyweight so 32kg(bell) x 100(reps) divided by 85kg(lifter) = 37.64.

Q. How will potential disputes about reps be resolved?

A. During your set you will be in a one on one live stream with a judge assigned specifically to your set. We recommend you also record your set separately while streaming so you can submit it in the event of any disputes about reps. If you believe their is a discrepancy in your set, you have 24 hours to submit your recorded version of the set which will be decided by a two judge panel. We will also be recording your set through the live stream to reference as well.

Q. What is the discount for judging?

A. We need judges! Anyone can judge. If you sign up to judge, you will be able to attend live streaming sessions taught by head judge, J.T Netterville, leading up to the event so you know how to properly judge a set. After you complete your judge, we will give you a $50 gift card to Kettlebell Kings.

Q. How do I train to be a judge?

A. The demonstrations above show how to perform and judge each set, but you will also be able to attend live streaming training sessions taught by head judge, J.T Netterville.

Q. How will judging be consistent?

A. For each set you will have one judge assigned to your set. Two judges will be assigned to each championship level set. All judges will complete training sessions to ensure uniform judging.

Q. When will I receive my competition link?

A. We will send you the link you will need to log in and compete on the live stream the week of the event.

Q. What time will sets be from around the world?

A. Set times will be based on United States based time zones between 10 AM and 4 PM Pacific time. If a large number of lifters from different parts of the world sign up, we will work with you to find a set time that is part of your normal day, but you should expect to lift based on the US time zones. If you would like to compete as groups from different countries please ask any questions to regarding a time

Q. When will winners be announced?

A. We will be entering the results of each set into a tracking document as soon as possible and winners along with a video production release of the event will be completed within one week of the event.
