Kettlebell Sport or Steel Competition Kettlebellsare designed for high rep workouts with specific lifts, they include:
- Long Cycle (clean and jerks)
The different lifts can be perfomed with one or with two kettlebells, called Biatholon, and lifters complete as many reps as possible in 10 minutes using different weights and in different weight classes. There are very specific rules for form, weight class and requirements. We will publish future posts with all the rules for Kettlebell Sport. There are a number of organizations who put on competitions like Orange Kettlebell Club and American Kettlebell Alliance
Competitions use specific weights in kilograms and there is an international standard of colors for the different weights. Also, no matter what the weight, all should be the same dimensions so that when competing and practicing you always are able to use the same form.
If you have been lifting for a while or like competitive fitness then Kettlebell Sport might be for you! It involves incredible amounts of practice, technique and strength but can be very rewarding.
